Heart Disease Is Reversible
Anyways...heart disease is reversible. Did you know that it will be the #1 reason why you or someone you know will die? Why not start NOW to make sure your heart is healthy!!
Heart Health & Cholesterol
Cholesterol is the leading cause of heart disease. Of course, not all cholesterol is created equal and we have the good (HDL), the bad (LDL) and the ugly (TG), but these levels are easily measured and can easily be controlled--but ultimately YOU are in charge!
I highly recommend you do not take cholesterol lowering medication because naturopathically there are SO many ways to control your cholesterol without a medication. It all begins with your diet.
When Is The Last Time You Had Your Cholesteral Checked?

What Else Impacts Your Heart Health?
While cholesterol plays a major role in heart disease, it’s not the only factor. Blood pressure, inflammation, blood sugar levels, stress, sleep, and even gut health all play important roles in how well your heart functions.
High blood pressure silently damages blood vessels over time. Elevated blood sugar contributes to inflammation and plaque buildup. Chronic stress increases cortisol, which can negatively impact cholesterol and blood pressure levels. Lack of sleep has been linked to increased cardiovascular risk.
Your heart does not operate in isolation - it is deeply connected to every system in your body. That’s why a comprehensive approach matters.
Nutrition:
- Emphasize a Mediterranean-style diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats
- Include omega-3 fatty acids from fish or plant sources
- Limit saturated fats, trans fats, and excessive sodium
Regular Exercise:
- Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity weekly
- Include strength training exercises 2-3 times per week
Maintain a Healthy Weight:
- Excess weight increases the risk of heart disease
Manage Stress:
- Practice stress-reduction techniques like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing
Monitor Blood Pressure:
- Regular check-ups and management of high blood pressure
Check Cholesterol Levels:
- Maintain healthy cholesterol levels through diet, exercise, and if necessary, medication
Quit Smoking:
- Smoking significantly increases heart disease risk
Limit Alcohol:
- If you drink, do so in moderation...even if wine is considered heart healthy, that doesn't mean drink it in excess
Consider Supplements:
- Omega-3 fatty acids, CoQ10, and magnesium may support heart health
- Always consult with a healthcare provider before starting supplements

Prevention Is Empowering
The good news? You are not powerless.
Heart disease develops over time - which means you have time to intervene. The earlier you start, the better your outcomes. Even if you already have elevated cholesterol or early signs of heart disease, your body has an incredible ability to heal when given the right support.
Functional and naturopathic approaches focus on identifying the root cause rather than masking numbers. We look at diet, lifestyle, nutrient deficiencies, inflammation markers, thyroid health, hormones, and more - because heart health is multi-factorial.
Don’t Wait for a Scare
Many people do not experience symptoms until there is a serious event. That’s why routine testing matters. Knowing your numbers gives you clarity and control.
Imagine knowing exactly what your heart needs — and having a personalized plan to improve it naturally.
This Heart Awareness Month, make a commitment to yourself. Love your heart not just in February — but every day of the year.
Call my office at 480-630-1665 to schedule your cholesterol check and take the first step toward a healthier, stronger heart.
Your heart works for you 24/7.
